Panasonic unveils DMC-FZ38
July 29, 2009 by Insider Staff
These days it seems all the biggest players in camera land want to get in on the bridge action. And Panasonic isn’t going to be left out in the cold, with its slick new DMC–FZ38 just unveiled. It’s got DSLR cajones, but in a bod’ closer to your compact than a full–featured snapper. Want to know what’s going on under the hood? Best keep reading then.
The Panasonic DMC–FZ38 is aimed right at those who don’t fancy a DSLR’s monster frame and steep learning curve. The 12.1–megapixel peeper touts Panny’s Intelligent Auto modes, so you can take great pics without any advanced tinkering.
That means there’s Intelligent Exposure, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent ISO, all chucked in and just one button away. For punters who fancy going rogue though, the DMC–FZ38 has a manual mode just for you.
The DMC–FZ38’s specs are certainly up there with other killer bridge efforts, including the mighty Olympus E–P1. There’s a 27m wide angle lens, with 18x optical zoom. The latter can be eked out to a massive 35.2x, with pics coming in at 3 –megapixels. Perfect for those grainy snaps you’re partial to selling to weekly celeb rags.
Panny’s yet to give us a price, but keen amateurs can fill out their involvement forms and get going from September.
