Sony PS3 Slim: more rumours
July 28, 2009 by Insider Staff
Sony’s kept the elusive PS3 Slim under much tighter wraps than the PSPgo, but the rumours just keep on whirling, and now they’re picking up speed: orders for key Sony PS3 parts have just doubled out in Taiwan. Is Sony stockpiling for a brand new launch?
The folks over at DigiTimes have their ears to the ground out East, and have caught word of orders for major Sony PS3 parts ramping up recently, potentially reaching one million consoles this quarter, double the number made in the last 3 months.
Now, a sudden step up in PS3 production could simply be to cope with the inevitable Christmas rush, but given all the other PS3 Slim rumours and sightings of late, Sony could be preparing the tiny box of vapourware for launch, or at least anticipating a sales shortage a PS3 price cut could trigger.
We’re hoping Sony’s gearing up for a PS3 Slim, but we’ll let you know if these Taiwanese whispers turn out to be just that.
