Nokia makes Ovi Files free
July 22, 2009 by Insider Staff
The Nokia Ovi Files service is one of the hidden gems of Nokia’s online assault on the mobile world. A simple idea, it syncs files between your home PC and a Nokia phone.
It even has the ability to save files to the web, so they update automatically whenever your PC or phone taps into them. Previously Nokia charged a monthly fee for this privilege, but now it’s scrapped that making Nokia Ovi Files completely free!
As well as being accessible from a mobile phone or your home PC, files can also be grabbed from any computer with a web browser and internet access.
Until now, 10GB of storage space has cost users £6.99 per month while 40GB cost a hefty £12.99 but in the face of competition from Google Docs and the impending Office Web from Microsoft it seems Nokia has backed down, scrapping the subscription completely.
Even better, it seems the Big N will refund subscription fees for unused months to those who had already paid for a year’s service.
Check out Ovi Files now, we promise it’s a great way to stay in sync with your files and now it’s free there’s no excuse not to take it for a spin!
