When the iPhone meets a satnav…
July 20, 2009 by Insider Staff
We’ve seen plenty of iPhone knock offs in our time, but the GPS-C3250 is the first satnav we’ve ever laid eyes on that rips on Apple’s touchscreen wonder so badly. With this out, do you even need TomTom for iPhone? Read on and see!
There’s no mistaking the silver side, black bezel and Apple icons on the screen: the GPS-C3250 is an iPhone fraud through and through, but hey, at least it’ll give you turn by turn directions right now, rather than at some indeterminate point in the future. The mapping software itself meanwhile looks suspiciously like TomTom’s.
It’s got an unresponsive resistive touchscreen unfortunately, but at 5-inches, is wide enough to avoid squinting at your dashboard in the car, and there’s a microSD slot to load up media on and play back, when you’re parked.
This iPhone satnav charade is yours with UK maps for just $130 (£80), although you won’t get the slick iPhone charging holder with it, or any form of warranty. Is that a saving you’re willing to risk your credit card details for?
