Olympus gets tough… again
July 20, 2009 by Insider Staff
The Olympus Mju Tough-6010 is the latest compact camera for those with digits made from dairy products: it’s a rock solid snapper that’s waterproof, drop-proof and freeze-proof, but doesn’t skimp on the image quality to protect your memory card. Read on to find out when you’ll be able to throw one around of your very own.
The 12 megapixel Olympus Mju Tough-6010 is the latest in Olympus’s rugged line, capable of holding back the tide to 3m down in water, withstanding drops from up to 1.5m and surviving through -10 degrees Celsius temperatures. Put it this way, if you manage to break it, we don’t expect the shots you took were up to much anyway.
Inside the Olympus Mju Tough-6010’s armour-like casing, there’s a 3.6x optical zoom, 2.7-inch LCD panel, intelligent auto mode, VGA video recording and xD and microSD card slots to stash your snaps.
That puts it on a par with the Canon Powershot D10, but it’s a full £80 cheaper: the Olympus Mju Tough-6010 hits the UK with a thud later this month for £299 in titanium, turquoise and lava, or grey, blue and red when translated from marketing tongue.
