LG Application Store goes beta
July 14, 2009 by Insider Staff
The LG Application Store we were promised has just hit the interwebs, with programs galore for any owners of Windows Mobile phones from the South Korean giant. Read on to find when you’ll be able to load up your LG blower here in Blighty.
LG said it was coming, and here it is, the Ronsil-named LG Application Store. It’s live now, with virtual tills open only in Singapore and Australia for the moment. The LG Application Store only supports two phones currently, the LG GM730 and LG KS20. It’s in beta right now, but is well stocked with games and productivity apps, and looks surprisingly similar to Nokia’s Ovi Store.
Both those phones are indeed Windows Mobile powered, which does raise the question, what’s the point of the LG Application Store if Windows Marketplace is on the way? We’re not sure either, but expect a European rollout for the LG Application Store later this year: 15 different languages will be supported so it should be comprehensive on the continent too.
