Fujifilm FinePix Real3D arriving September
July 14, 2009 by Insider Staff
The Fujifilm FinePix Real3D, the world’s first compact digital camera to snap stills in three dimensions, has just been tagged with a price and a date it drops off the conveyor belt. Read on to see how much one of these will set you back, no silly specs required!
We’ve seen 3D webcams before, but the Fujifilm FinePix Real3D promises to be the first 3D still camera for consumers when it launches in Japan this Summer, followed by Europe and the US in September.
We’ll get the good news out of the way first: you won’t need any red and green glasses to get all that extra dimensional dazzle. The Fujifilm FinePix Real3D images can be shown instead on a 8-inch LCD digital picture frame that displays both left and right images simultaneously. Alternatively, you can get your snaps printed in 3D, with a plastic layer acting as a lens.
Oh, the bad news? All that added depth perception in your Facebook photos comes at a cost. The Fujifilm FinePix Real3D will set you back $600 (£370), and that’s likely before tax is bolted on. With the price of DSLRs rapidly dropping, wouldn’t you rather save up a bit more for one instead?
