Nokia launches super-tough 3720 classic

July 10, 2009 by Insider Staff

Nokia 3720 classicFirst we saw video of a mysterious Nokia rugged phone taking a battering on the golf course. Then specs of a hardcore Nokia 3720 leaked out. And now Nokia has confirmed that the self same phone that flew down the fairway is in fact the Nokia 3720. Keep reading to get the full details on Nokia’s JCB Toughphone beater.

The Nokia 3720 makes Ricky Hatton look like a pansy by comparison. Make no mistake, this is one double hard mobile phone. The cell is IP–54 certified. That means it’s resistant to water and dust, as well as being shock proof. Hardly surprising since it took a clobbering from a 9-iron and lived to tell the tale.

With a sealed, leak proof case, the Nokia 3720 can survive any outdoor situation. Let’s face it, you don’t want to be whipping out an N97 if you spend the best part of your day on a building site.

The battery cover is locked in place with a screw, so it won’t go slipping off if you happen to drop the blighter. And perhaps best of all, the Nokia 3720 doesn’t resemble a prize fighters’ face, unlike the Sonim S1 Land Rover phone.

Inside you get some fairly standard specs, with space for a 1GB SD card, Nokia Maps, a 2.2in screen, 2–megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1, EDGE, FM radio and an MP3 player.
