Toshiba TG01 coming to Orange
July 3, 2009 by Insider Staff
The Toshiba TG01 has popped up on the Orange website under the ‘coming soon’ banner, with Toshiba expected to launch the phone on July 9th.
Toshiba’s TG01 smartphone will be the first handset to market to feature the Qualcom Snapdragon chipset. Snapdragon runs at a corking 1GHz and is said to improve always-on connectivity into the bargain. Orang has just put up a ‘coming soon’ page on its UK site and Toshiba is expected to officially launch the phone on 9th July.
The Toshiba TG01 runs Windows Mobile (6.5, we hope) and sports a huge 4.1 inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen held within a 9.9mm thick case. We try to avoid phrases like ‘iPhone killer’ but, yeah, this is clearly aimed squarely at Apple’s neck of the woods.
As well as the physical dimensions and the nippy processor going for it, the TG01 has the expected GPS, wifi and ‘talking on the phone’ stuff you would expect from a highend smartphone plus a 3.15 megapixel camera and built in Facebook and YouTube apps.
