Rock Band: Unplugged rocking on June 19
May 28, 2009 by Insider Staff
Rock Band Unplugged may sound like an acoustic spin-off in which classic tracks are reinterpreted sans amplification (actually, that would be quite good) but no – it just means that PSP owners will soon have the chance to embarrass themselves in train carriages and waiting rooms up and down the country.
The game has just been announced by Harmonix/MTV Games. The game aims to offer the complete Rock Band experience in the palm of your hand, although it seems to be doing so without the ‘knuckleduster’-style controller that made using the Nintendo DS Guitar Hero such a trial.
Rather than fancy add-ons, it will just use the standard PSP controls and rhythm gameplay to operate different instruments – including a vocal track. The press release makes no mention of networked play, so we aren’t sure if you will be able to play as an actual band with fellow PSP owners – a shame, as the best bit about the full Rock Band game was playing with your mates.
You will be able to use the PSPs networking capability to download extra content, though, and there are plans to supplement the 41 master recordings bundled with the game with more track packs downloadable via the PlayStation Network.
