iPhone DSLR remote: live view on your mobile

The iPhone could soon get a DSLR remote on the App Store, letting you hook up to a camera, see live view and shoot with a tap of the screen.

Software developer onOne has just submitted a seriously useful iPhone app for approval, DSLR Remote. Hook up your DSLR to a laptop and you’ll be able to fire shots away on your iPhone, control shutter speed and aperture, and even see the live view panel if your DSLR offers it.

The DSLR Remote is obviously great for serious photographers, but it looks set to be a nice little app for amateurs too, looking for a way to take great family shots with themselves in.

There a few catches with the iPhone DSLR Remote app: it’s only for supported Canon cameras, and has still to run the gauntlet of Apple’s arbitrary approval process. But onOne says it’s looking at making a DSLR Remote iPhone app for Nikon as well, so provided Apple gives the nod, expect expanded support soon.
