Philips NP2900 music streamer delivers improved stereo sweet spot

Philips has launched the NP2900 wireless music streamer, claiming it delivers a much wider sweet spot than traditional stereo setups. It all comes courtesy of Philips’ LivingSound technology, which combines a digital signal processor with multiple speaker drivers and amps.

Philips claims that this array allows the tracks streamed by the NP2900 to fill a room with balanced, undistorted stereo – similar to a live performance, apparently.

FullSound technology is also onboard the NP2900, and this allows it to “restore” some of the quality of MP3 music lost in the compression process. We’ve heard it in action in existing Philips audio products and it’s pretty impressive, upping clarity and dynamic range.

Elsewhere the Philips NP2900 sounds like your standard music streamer, able to drag files from your home PC and blast them out, plus access Internet radio stations. There’s a colour screen for browsing and changing settings.
