New Sony OLED TV arriving September?

When we think of impossibly thin tellies, we think of the Sony XEL-1 – the first commercially available OLED television from Sony. We say first, because it looks like the Japanese company is set to release its second instalment in OLED televisual goodness in September.

The Sony XEL-01 was undeniably gorgeous. The pictures were so crisp Gary Lineker would have been chomping at the bit to do ads for it. But it was too small, measuring just 11-inches, not to mention outrageously expensive. Now, however, rumblings suggest that we may be on the verge of getting a new OLED offering from Sony at the International COnsumer Electronics Fair (IFA) on September 4.

The news, comes from OLED-Info who claim that sources have suggested a September unveiling is on the cards. Further details are limited, but we already know of a 21-inch OLED Sony prototype, which is an altogether more acceptable size than the 11-inch XEL-1.

Whether we’ll be able to afford this new set without having to take out a second mortgage (which is already difficult enough), remains to be seen. But you can be sure that this new set, whatever it is, will be more desirable than a chocolate Angelina Jolie. Desirable in so many ways…
