Nikon D5000: suits you, SLR!
April 14, 2009 by Insider Staff
Check out Nikon’s latest DSLR camera: the D5000. “It’s just like any old digital SLR,” you say as if you’ve seen a million of the blighters. Well, actually it’s not, because the Nikon D500 actually has an articulating 2.7-inch display on its rear!
When we say “articulating” we don’t mean it can pronounce words like ‘pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis’ without stumbling or stuttering. No, we mean that the screen can flip, twist and fold back on itself, allowing the photographer to shoot his targets from weird and wonderful angles (a celebrity papper’s dream!).
That’s not the limit of the D5000’s talents, though. It also has a 12.3-megapixel sensor, and an ISO of 3,200 for shooting in most light conditions (from darks as dark as the dark part on a killer whale, to lights as bright as the white part of a, erm, killer whale). Nikon’s also chucked in a 4fps burst mode, one-button Live View, a 720/24p movie mode, and an 11-point AF system with 3D focus tracking.
All in all an impressive DSLR camera, then. The most attractive feature of the Nikon D5000 though? The price. It debuts at £719.99 for the body only, or £799.99 with a 18-55 VR lens kit. and should burst onto the scene at the beginning of next month.
